Pick A Pic Challenge
In honor of our 50th follower here on the FWC we present you with a collaboration contest with TwiFic Pics. Now if you don't know what TwiFic Pics is then you should definitely check them out. They base their site around the graphic artists in the fandom, showing off each of their work, taking requests to make story banners, offering tutorials and so much more. Now onto the contest!

Judge to be named later
A public vote will occur from January 8th – January 15th. Votes will be tallied for favorite banners as well as favorite one-shots. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes awarded. A panel of judges will also critique both the banner and one-shot submissions. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded, as well as any special awards determined by the judges. First place winners will will receive t-shirts courtesy of myt-spot.com. Banner winners will also receive a feature and interview on TwiFic Pics.

Many times authors will have a story idea and run with it. Eventually they will then have a graphic made to represent the story. What we challenge you to do is reverse this process; Write a story based on a pre-made banner. The banners will be provided by the collaborating graphic contest entries at TwiFic Pics. In short… Pick A Pic! To enter the contest please fill out the form in our sidebar labeled 'Contest Entry Form'.
Winners will receive a personalized version of the banner that they chose to use to write about, bragging rights, and story promotion.
PUBLIC VOTING for the One-shot entries will be determined through a poll on the FWC (TwiFicPics for the banners) on Saturday January 8, 2011- Saturday January 15, 2011 to determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. A panel of judges will also critique both the banner and one-shot submissions to provide any additional awards (depending on the number of collabs there may be a separate voting and/or award for that category).
*NOTE: This is a banner free for all, so even if a banner has already been chosen, you can still decide to use it yourself.

Objective:
Most of the time authors will take a story idea and run with it. Eventually they will then have a graphic made to represent the story. But what would happen if the process was reversed? If a bunch of designers created banners for stories that don’t exist yet, then challenged others to write one-shots based on those banners? In short… Pick A Pic! We present you with the challenge of creating a banner for a story that doesn’t yet exist. Once your banner has been submitted, it will be uploaded at TwiFic Pics, where writers can drop by and choose which banner they’d like to write a submission based upon, though there’s no guarantee that every banner will be chosen. At the end of the contest, winners will be determined by both public vote and judges choice. Be sure to check out the rules below!
Rules:
- Entrants can submit an unlimited number of banners.
- Banners should depict characters from the Twilight Saga. Canon and non-canon pairings (including slash) are welcome, as well as NSFW pics.
- Canon Twilight actors are preferred, but other photos can be used with discretion.
- Banners will be uploaded to the TwiFicPics site. (If the banner is more than 700px wide, it will be resized.)
- Banners will be uploaded anonymously to the site as they are submitted.
- Artists will be revealed once the voting portion of the contest is completed. Artists may reveal that they are taking part in the contest, but not which banner belongs to them.
- All entries must be work that does not correspond with an already-written story or O/s.
- Designers are encouraged to enter the writing portion of the contest as well, but are not permitted to write a one-shot corresponding to their banner entry.
- Banner entries cannot simply be just a photo with some text; there must be at least two photo editing elements included.
- Banners can include a title, but it is not required.

Is there a word limit? I tend to write very long oneshots, sometimes as long as 20,000 words (or once when my FGB oneshot turned out to be 70,000 words). I always try to stay within 20,000 words but I may go over. I have 2 banners picked out and I really want to write these stories. I just don't do good with limits.

I just wanted to thank the banner creator of entry 13 for inspiring a story that has had the biggest comeback ever for a one-shot that I've written! I really look forward to finding out who they are so that I can pester them for some more. lol ;P Only half-kidding...

Can stories be posted on more thank one site, like Twilighted, TwiWrite, MyVampFiction, The Writers Coffee Shop, etc? Or do you want them just on FFn for now and we can post them other places after the contest?

Why was only one of my stories included in the voting? I wrote 2 and submitted both of them earlier this evening. Neither of them are posted here either. I'm so upset about this. I haven't slept all week so I could get these stories done and now only one was included. WHY???

I just don't understand why it was tweeted about and the voting page was accessible when not all the stories were included.
I'm sorry for getting so upset but I have been paranoid about them going through correctly all night since I never got any word they were received and they weren't showing up on the blog. I've been staying up late to wait so I could be sure and then when they weren't there I panicked.
Like I said I haven't slept much at all this week so I could get them done and I'm just a little emotional right now from lack of sleep.

It's completely understandable! I actually wasn't supposed to be doing the updating (the girl who does lives in Spain) but she had to sleep and was going to finish in the morning. I didn't know this so once I found out (unfortunately after the tweeting was done) I went and fixed everything.
I really am sorry hun. Typically we're more organized but with 79 entries and 300 unique viewers to the page each day things are a bit overwhelming. None of this is an excuse, simply an explanation.

Wow, some of these fics are really diverse. You guys have alot of talent on your hands, love, creatures in cave, zombies, sunshine lmao. That's alot to take in. It's so ..diverse. I love the idea of this contest and the entries. So, are these contestants judged by how well the one shot goes with the banner, or something separately?

Yes the fics really are amazing, we were so fortunate everyone was so eager to share their talent with us! The fics will be judged individually by each of our 5 judges on a 1-10 scale based off of grammar, like-ability, how much it represents the banner, individuality, etc. The one's with the top 10 scores will then be voted on as the top 3 favorites.
